Processing Spatial Relations in Object Localization Tasks
نویسندگان
چکیده
The localization of an object within a certain environment requires the selection of an appropriate reference object and the establishment of adequate spatial relations between the objects. The decision, which reference object to choose, demands consideration of all applicable spatial relations, which therefore have to be computed before the nal decision can be made. However, the calculation of all applicable spatial relations for all potential reference objects is a computationally intensive task. In order to increase performance, it is proposed that the set of spatial relations to be tested can be reduced in two respects without any loss of quality in the generated answer. The two ways in which reduction can be achieved are by taking into account the type of the localization | approximate or precise | and the type of the reference object.

Different Profiles of Verbal and Nonverbal Auditory Impairment in Cortical and Subcortical Lesions
A B S T R A C T Introduction:We investigated differential role of cortical and subcortical regions in verbal and non-verbal sound processing in ten patients who were native speakers of Persian with unilateral cortical and/or unilateral and bilateral subcortical lesions and 40 normal speakers as control subjects. Methods: The verbal tasks included monosyllabic, disyllabic dichotic and diotic tas...
متن کاملObject-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images
As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...
متن کاملSelective deficits in human audition: evidence from lesion studies
The human auditory cortex is the gateway to the most powerful and complex communication systems and yet relatively little is known about its functional organization as compared to the visual system. Several lines of evidence, predominantly from recent studies, indicate that sound recognition and sound localization are processed in two at least partially independent networks. Evidence from human...

متن کاملLateralization of Spatial Relation Processing in Natural Scenes
Spatial relations between objects can be represented in a categorical and in a coordinate manner. Categorical representations reflect abstract relations, like 'left of' or 'under', whereas coordinate representations concern exact metric distances between objects. These two types of spatial relations are thought to be linked to a left hemisphere and a right hemisphere advantage, respectively. Th...
